Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil were honoured with the ‘ Maharashtrian of the Year’ award, instituted by foremost Marathi daily Lokmat, at a party. While Aamir Khan bagged the award in the entertainment category, R R Patil got it in the politics category. Others dignitaries who received the award on the occasion include names Kalpana Joshi for science and technology, Sanjay Gaikwad (industry), Bhagwan Rampure (Arts), Kavita Raut (Sports), Dr Ravindra Kolhe and Smita Kolhe (Social Service). Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan spoke on the present situation and challenges before the state in the award function. The chief Minister also added that democratic systems and free media are factual powers of the state. Director for Lokmat and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda, while carrying the welcome speech, spoke on the subject like malnutrition, Naxal problem, slow industrial progress rate, and farmers’ suicide among other issues. The jury members included former High Court judge B N Deshmukh, Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Anna Hazare, Lila Poonawala, Gulzar, Rajdeep Sardesai and Dilip Vengsarkar. In concern with Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, the buzz is floating all around that actress Rani Mukherjee who was last seen with Mr. perfectionist in `Ghulam’ and `Mangal Pandey’, have been secretly shooting for Reema Kagti s untitled project inside an old Parsi building in the Five Garden area since few days. Reema Kagti’s entire untitled by Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee come alive to confine the old charm of the bungalow when the populace go to sleep. Being a suspense drama genre movie were Aamir Khan will be seen donning the character of a cop, this dark and old fashioned bungalow provides the best background to the suspense drama and is fittingly used to improve the impact of the whole script.
