Aamir keen to catch Bengali film 'Egaro'
It's not just Bollywood , even regional cinema seems to interest Aamir Khan . Why else would he ask for a DVD of a Bengali film to be sent to him on Friday morning? News just in that Mr Perfectionist is keen on watching the recently released " Egaro " (The Eleven), a Bengali film based on the historic IFA Shield victory of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club of Calcutta against East Yorkshire Regiment of England by two goals on July 29 , 1911. If sources are to be believed, a special screening of the film was supposed to happen in Mumbai sometime back and was deferred because Aamir had to leave for the 61 st Berlin International Film Festival, where he was a jury member. And now, busy with Reema Kagti's next, in which he plays a cop, Aamir still hasn't given up on his interest to catch the Bengali film. The story goes back a little, when Aamir had called up Sourav Ganguly expressing the desire to work on the same subject. Meanwhile, work on "Egaro" had already begun and Sourav got Aamir introduced to Anilava Chatterjee, co- producer of the film. Anilava recalls, "Even when Aamir came calling on Sourav during the promotion of "3 Idiots", he admitted to be interested in a sports film and wanted to work on subjects like the golden history of football or hockey. I had sent him all the research work that we had done on IFA Shield victory, back then. Aamir kept in touch and now, wants the DVD of "Egaro" to be sent to him." Aamir, not new to exploring sports on celluloid, had earlier featured in the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed "Lagaan" in 2001. So, when is Aamir's wish going to be fulfilled, one wonders. "Right now, we are busy selling the television rights of the film. The DVD should come out in a month or so. It will be sent to Aamir soon after," says Anilava. Tollywood is sure to be on Eleventh heaven! Aamir Khan More Pics
